Guidelines for network interviewing
- you must be looking for information - this is an opportunity for you
to gather information about a company, current trends etc. You
are not asking for a job!
- arrange to talk to someone who is doing the type of job that you're
interested in - not the managing director
- do your research - find out as much as you can about the company
before you arrive
- always make an appointment first and make sure you keep it brief -
15-20 minutes of someones time is enough to ask for
- dress appropriately for your meeting - first impressions count
- follow up any leads if the person to speak to recommends someone
else that you could meet
- keep a record of the information you gather - this will be useful in
the future
- send a thank you letter after the event
