I am writing in response to your recent advertisement in the Careers and Appointments Service for the position of Trainee Graduate Accountant. I am a final year Economics and German student at Trinity College Dublin and expect to graduate in summer 2003 with a 2:1 honours degree.

I am keen to work for a leading Chartered Accountancy Practice like ABC Accountants which has a reputation for high quality training and serves a number of high profile clients in a range of business sectors. I see from your website that you are looking for motivated, goal focused individuals and I believe I can provide these skills.

As you will see from my CV, I have gained experience in a sales environment where communication skills, problem solving and initiative were vital. Whilst working at HMV I noticed that sales of Drum and Bass music were low so I implemented a new display system which resulted in a 15% increase in sales. I have developed my numerical reasoning skills through my college work, and my final year thesis has involved detailed research and analysis of economic statistics. I read the newspapers and the Economist to keep up to date with developments in the business world.

I believe that a career in accountancy will enable me to develop my interest in financial issues whilst at the same time allowing me to build on my interpersonal skills and communication skills through contact with clients and colleagues.
